http://www.cbsnews.com/news/after-complaints-of-clowns-in-wisconsin-man-with-gun-mask-arrested/

Summary:
Wisconsin police arrested a man in possession of a gun and a clown mask, shortly after the suspicious  clown sightings. The reports lead all the way up into the arrest and were reporting that they were on property and nuisance act.  The man arrested was a 20 year old man caught running in a alley wearing the mask when the policed arrived to the scene. This arrest follow the report of 2 clowns waving knifes and harassing teens.

Connection:
This relates to the Boston Tea Party, the people dressed up and were throwing tea out to intimidate the British. The tea meant so much because that was like all there profit. This relates to the clowns but they are doing little more harm. They are out here scaring people and intimidating them.

Discussion Question:
Do you think the clowns are actually putting us in danger?
Why triggered the clowns to doing this?
Whats the intention? to kill? to scare?

  1. I think the clowns are putting people in danger because its scaring everyone. Especially when they are incidents of clowns on school campuses. I ask the same question, why are they doing this but it could be some form of a terrorist attack because it came up out of nowhere. I think the intention is to scare people.

  3. I agree with Sara, the clowns are putting people in danger because they're creating panic. Making such a large group of people freak out is unwise because it could lead to attacks against people dressed as clowns that aren't actually harming anyone. That said, this whole clown thing is really weird and unethical.

  5. I think the clowns are not showing any immediate danger but causing a lot of emotional stress and anger. I think there's a recent outbreak of clown incidents because of some internet sensation and its close to Halloween and want to cause scares. I think their intension is not to harm but to spook people.

  6. I think the intentions of the clowns are to scare people. This sort of reminds me of a protest because clowns are ultimately groups of people trying to convey something (the "something" being unknown).

  7. I think that being a clown is a very silly move; not only is it a pointless prank, so many people have been advocating for more violence against clowns, people have organized clown hunts, and more people than ever have guns that they will be very willing to use on clowns when sighted.

  8. I feel as if the clowns are trying to bring attention towards themselves. However, by trying to bring attention towards themselves they are hurting people. The clowns are scaring many people basically bringing negative attention towards them causing people to run from them rather than running towards them.

  9. I feel like it's a mix between clowns attacking people and others just trying to scare them. This was probably caused by Halloween approaching with this being a prank to scare people, with others jumping in who are actually trying to harm others, using this as their cover up. It's sad how something that's supposed to bring joy to people is being used to hurt them.

  10. I do think that the clowns are putting us in danger because they are masked meaning that it's harder to identify the people committing the crimes. I think that the clowns intentions are initially to scare but they must get a thrill from it which leads to actual harm. Social media is definetly triggering the people into acting so recklessly. The people committing the crimes are essentially building off and enjoying the fear they are causing.

  11. I don't think that clowns are actually putting us in danger because it does not affect us on a worldwide level. I think that such clown sightings are a way of attracting unnecessary attention; It is a new internet craze that is likely to be inspired by the halloween season. I believe that their intentions are to scare people, but not to the point that they are doing so to kill.

  12. I think the clowns are potentially putting us in danger. Their intentions are to scare, but there is a possibility that they take it to the next level and begin to physically harm people. I agree with Neha and Sara that it might be a protest or maybe a terrorist attack because these groups of people are coming together, perhaps to get some point across.

  13. I think that some of them are putting us in danger, but I feel like most of them just want to be scary. I don't know why anyone would want to waste their time waiting around a place trying to scare someone. It seems kind of pointless to me

  14. Yes, I think the clowns are actually putting us in danger, because lets say they attack someone, but get away. We will never know who they are, because they are wearing a mask. I think them trying to be funny, and make it a joke triggered them to do this. I think the intention is to scare people because they think its funny.

  15. I believe that the clowns don't harm people, but rather stand as a political statement. I think the point they're trying to make is that America is a culture of fear. Recently, people are scared of Islamic people because of isis, just like the red scare or homosexuals, but now it's clowns. Taking it into perspective, people getting scared about clowns seems really stupid, thus making a point that people shouldn't be scared about things they don't know about.

    1. I understand your perspective and has also altered my opinion in a way. Although a still believe that the clowns are still harming people. But, I do believe that the clowns are making a point and are standing for something. Although this is in San Mateo now I believe its all copying from the east.

  17. I think that the clowns are showing us that we as Americans are living in a period of fear. And its more of a trend that we are currently living in so it forces others to think like that and look out from that prespective.

  18. I believe this whole thing is just a prank for Halloween. I believe it is not important to America's events and we need to focus on more important things than clowns.

  19. I do not believe that the clowns are actually putting us in danger. Although they are very frightening and think scaring people is funny, I do not believe their putting us in danger. I think it's a new copy cat trend and people just want to be included and want the attention on them.

  21. I believe that Clown Lives Matter. Like these clowns are just pranking kids and its all a joke, but some triggered kids have to get offended and screw up the clown's life. Clowns in a society of instant gratification are being lost and now that they're making a comeback they're being neglected. It's just a prank bro.

  23. i agree with Lille and Matthew, a lot of the clowns aren`t really trying to hurt us, a lot of them are just following the trend of others and thinking that scaring us is fun. I do agree that since some of them did do things that affect and hurt us, we should we aware.

  25. I don't really think the clowns are trying to hurt us, rather they are trying to instill fear because they think it is funny. While we should be aware, we should not let them scare us to the point where we can't live our lives the way we want to because then we are just allowing them to affect our lives negatively.

  26. To be honest, I don't think that these clowns are trying to hurt us, I believe the're just doing it to get a laugh. Since it's been going viral over the internet everyone is trying to join the hype and become a clown. I think the intention on this is to scare people, but at the same time people don't like being Scared all the time.
