 Pennsylvania lumber company makes a bold                   statement with Super Bowl Ad

Summary :  In this year's 2017 Super Bowl, one particular commercial that was showed during the commercial break, had captured the hearts of many viewers.  The company behind the ad was a Lumber company located at Pennsylvania.  The commercial featured a Latina mother and daughter who were traveling within Mexico to get to the US border.  It was a message over the topic of immigration.  It was meant to be used as a reflection of Trumps immigration policy.  Not only did it touch the hearts of many viewers but it also opened their eyes to see the reality of what's happening in present day of our world.

Connection : This connects to our immigration unit and how we learned about different types of groups whom suffered through the process.  It connects to the hardships that we learned that the immigrants had taken.  We learned how the Japanese immigrants had been treated and now in present day the Hispanic race is now in the same position.  

Questions/Discussion : Do you think that showing this ad during a worldwide watched event was a good move to promote a message? 
Do you think something so simple like a commercial can change people's minds over such a strong topic?

  1. This was a good move because many people saw it and it touched peoples' hearts. Because immigration is a big topic/issue today, it was a good decision for the lumber company to show people a different perspective versus what they already know.

  2. I think showing this ad was very good, because it helps inform a large audience of the issues we have in america right now, also shows the reality of people from different cultures, and how many are less fortunate than those watching a football game.

  4. I think that showing this ad during a worldwide watched event was a good move to promote a message because a lot of people watch the Super Bowl. I do not think that this commercial will completely change a person's opinion on this topic since it is a very serious topic but it will open up their eyes to a bigger perspective of the situation.

  6. I mean if comedies like Bojack horse man, early Simpson's and maybe even other shows can handle deep topics better than most media now a days. Yes You can make a difference with a commercial it's nothing new. That doesn't stop it from being a good move on the ads part. The more knowledge spread about what's going on in the world, the better

  7. I do think that it was a good decision to show that commercial because it gave many people an idea of what it is like for immigrants living in our world today. I believe it did move people but I don't think it would be enough to change a persons mind on such a strong topic.

  9. I believe that the Super Bowl was a good time to show this ad. I believe that this message really moved people and opened their eyes to what some may have to go through to try and find a better life. Hopefully this helped people realize the real issue here, which is not illegal immigrants.

I also think that a commercial like this can change people views on the topic because of its strong message. I was personally happy to see an advertisement like this play during the game.

Showing the advertisement during the Super Bowl was a good move, especially how immigration is one of the biggest issues as of late, and it involves not only people from the country of origin of the characters, but people of all nations. I would also like to give them props for making the advertisement informative, like they're showing people "this is their situation", or "this is what's actually happening". I don't think it will change people's minds over this topic that easily, but the ad did enough for people to take their thoughts under consideration. I'm pretty sure their eyes are open now.
