These members were in the MS-13 street gang and some were illegal immigrants from  El Salvador and/or Honduras. They were also charged with violent crimes and seven killings over the five years. Those who were killed were students from Brentwood High School Nisa Mickens(15), Kayla Cuevas (16), and Jose Pena-Hernandez (18). Brentwood was said to have had many problems with gang violence. These killings sparked conversation on illegal immigrants and finding connections with other homicides with the same patterns. 1. I would be very scared for my safety if there was an attack at Aragon High School. I think that police officers should focus their attention on stopping gangs in adults because teens get put in gangs because of them. If we were to stop many adults from being in gangs, children would stop being violent.

  2. I believe that if there was no longer any protection throughout high schools to know that we are not even safe for gang members I would be scared that the safety of my life is in danger. I believe that ways people can step up for the community is to state who we know is a trouble causing group or section as well as not keeping quiet when violent activity is near.

  3. If gangs had killed high school students in the area I live, I think the that should be the police's first priority. Stopping the gangs altogether should be the goal. To make the community safer, the community must also feel safe. Providing secure lookout and increased security will help the students and citizens feel like they will be protected from these attacks.

    1. Ya, I completely agree. I really do hope that the police in that area are doing everything they can to make sure the community and the school feels safe and protected. Unfortunately it is impossible to stop all crime, but we can still work to reduce the rates and catch people who are responsible.

  5. I think gangs can be pretty violent, therefore, protection and security in the school would be my first concern. I would probably inform police so that all students can be kept safe in the future.

  6. I would be scared out of my mind if gang members killed people I had known. Since, they have already committed this crime once, there is a possibility that they will do it again and also influence other gangs to continue these horrific attacks. I would build a safer community by having more police monitor streets and schools. Since, it will take a while to track these gang members, people should try traveling in groups rather than alone.

  7. I would be mad if they killed people that i knew. I'm sure they will keep on doing these horrible things but i would try to stop them by telling the school or police where all the gang members hang out

  8. I believe that it is sad that a murder has to be what sparks law enforcers to be more strict and be more secure in neighborhoods, in this case, Brentwood. Security and protection in this specific community needs to be a main concern and priority for law enforcers and residents of this community.

  10. I think I would be really scared and upset because our safety is not being upheld. We shouldn't have to be scared to go to school or go out because their are gangs killing people. I wouldn't want to go out anymore and try to live life because I know my life would be at stake.

  11. I would feel very upset since everyone at school could be at risk, with gang violence involved. I feel like we could be a far community if we all agreed and had the same opinions but obviously thats not the case
