Summary: On March 2, 2017 New York police had arrested 13 gang members who were charged of killing three high school students. Who had been attacked with a machete and baseball bats while walking in their neighborhoods. These members were in the MS-13 street gang and some were illegal immigrants from El Salvador and/or Honduras. They were also charged with violent crimes and seven killings over the five years. Those who were killed were students from Brentwood High School Nisa Mickens(15), Kayla Cuevas (16), and Jose Pena-Hernandez (18). Brentwood was said to have had many problems with gang violence. These killings sparked conversation on illegal immigrants and finding connections with other homicides with the same patterns. One Republican President talked about the situation and said to the gang members “Brentwood was said to have had many problems with gang violence.
Connection: This connects to the 1920’s also know as “Roaring Twenties” where they had mobs which were gangs who would intimidate others and threaten them. Sometimes to the point that they would kill if they didn’t get their way.
