School Shooting in France

An armed student entered a high school in southeast France and fired at the head master and students on Thursday. The student was later arrested before a large amount of damage was done. There were no deaths luckily, but two people were injured. News of the event quickly traveled throughout France where school shootings are rarely heard of, and the authorites have been notified to be on high alert due to the event and terroristic behavior. Minister Bruno Le and prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve both met later that day to discuss the situation.

This relates to our unit with JFK because it is unnacceptable that we let situation like these take place so easily, further precautions should be taken to ensure that events like these won't take place.

What should be done to prevent situations like these? Why do events like these occur in the first place? Should anything really be done, because whose fault is it that stuff like this keeps happening?

  1. Teach kids not to be violent and help kids who might have problems. People get motivated to start violence for one reason or another but, It's hard to pin point what it is that causes people to be like this . It could be stress, metal problems or just plain boredom.

  2. To prevent situations like this we can talk to kids about what happens afterwards. Events like this happen because the kid is getting bullied or they get motivated to start violence .

  3. Try helping kids feel in a safe environment, and help them through the struggles of life. Like Nikki said, kids want to commit violence for various reasons, abuse, bullying, stress, or they just love the sight of violence.

  4. More law enforcement such as school cops and other precautionary acts should be implemented to limit such brutal crimes. Events like this happen because students undergo stress that they are unable to deal with. Things can be done and the fault lies in society.

  5. I think it is about how the student was treated before committing the crime. Schools should focus on trying to prevent bullying because bullying causes school killings. Stricter gun laws should also be placed in order to help prevent school shootings.

  6. There should be more enforcement at schools and especially now, at the school where the events occured there should be stricter check ups on the students.Events like these usually occur when a student wants to prove something to his/her classmates or schools. This student may have struggled internally and felt as if the only way to exert this stress was to do so on his teachers.

  7. To prevent situations like these in the future, there should be more security in the school. Also, when it comes to students, they should pay more attention to the students, so they can pin point the kids who need more help, so they can get the help the kids need before they do rash things like shoot up the school. The school should have a safer and more nurturing environment to help the students as they are maturing into adults. If things like this keep happening, the school system should be blamed, because if students are shooting up the school, that means either they have home problems that need fixing, or the school is not providing a good learning environment, or even both.

  8. There is nothing you can really do to stop this sort of situation without inciting violence. People might get the wrong idea and fight back. People shoot up schools because of insecurity, and they want to do something to feel noticed or something. It's no ones fault really.

  9. I personally believe that school's should have more security, such as putting metal fences with locks or maybe even having police surrounding the school to make sure that everything is okay. Events like these normally happen because maybe sometimes the student, adult or person who is shooting is mentally ill or are having problems that they want to take their anger out on other people. Of course something should be done. I am so sure that this school in France is working to make their security better and protect their students.

  10. I think events like these happen due to neglect and even mental illnesses of the students that sprout from that neglect or lack of love. being treated poorly often result in occurrences such as these and it's uncommon to learn that school shooters have some sort of family or mental issue. this can be prevented by contacting CPS if there is a parental problem and by just spreading love.
